Being Cooler

I've been pinning various 1/35th scale dioramas of LAV IIIs for how they have done the stowage, and I notice bright red or blue plastic coolers are a common item.

from this blog. Notice it has two, a red and a blue!

I also spotted one on a platoon of '80s Cold War M113s over at The Guild gaming forum.

Much of my stowage consists of wooden boxes, which are rather rare in these days of cardboard ration boxes, cases of water bottles and plastic coolers.

I do have some metal boxes which perhaps could have their corners filed down and then painted blue with a white lid to look like a Coleman cooler.

  1. Both Black Dog and CMK/Planet Models both do modern US stowage in resin for 1/72. Both are very good and include coolers.

    2. This is the main Black Dog site; http://www.blackdog.cz/t72.html. The distributor list should help, but always seem to be sellers on eBay to.

This the main CMK/Planet Models: http://www.cmkkits.com/en/afv/index.php?fSort=3&fSeries=45&fScale=15&fNationality=5&fEra=59&fMaker=0 and this link is to the 'On the Way' site for 1/72 kits, accessories reviews etc: http://www.onthewaymodels.com/kitlists/planetkits.htm#Accessories
      Hope these help.

    3. Thanks. I've checked but just don't see anything that looks like a rectangular cooler.

    1. Very nice build! The LAV-25 can proxy as a Coyote Recce vehicle with only a slight squint, so I'm tempted to get a couple of those as well!
