Bonfire of the Reaction Tests

Isabelstadt, Mantovia (Reuters)- Convoys of ambulances are arriving at the Marienhaus hospital in the capitol today as reports emerge of another bloody clash in Communist Tartaria's invasion of this small Alpine country best known for it's cheese and wine.

A battlegroup built around the Queen's Liebgard Husaren and the 1st Fusiliers have counterattacked a large PDRT armoured thrust at the ruined village of Kleinedorp.

The humble T34/85s gave good service last night as well knocking out two or three Centurions. I should remove that Soviet star and add these to the PDRT OrBat on a permanent basis.

Swedish built J29s roared overhead all day providing vital air suppport for the Mantovian ground forces.

It was a good game for the KML at least. I had some bonus cards, so I got an extra airstrike to destroy two T54s and another card let me shoot down one of the PDRT MiG sorties.

PDRT armour pushes around the mountain on the Mantovian right, but get stopped by Comets and Carl Gustav fire in a narrow pass.

Witnesses say that the Mantovian defenders suffered heavy losses but managed to blunt the Tartarian attack.

We each lost about 75% of our armour in the bloody clash. It felt like I couldn't make a Reaction Test to save my life.

No announcement is forthcoming from the Defense Ministry at this time. However, cargo aircraft and ships from Western countries continue to arrive and unload much needed munitions.

Scott was suddenly available for a serendipitous game last night so we opted for Seven Days since we hadn't played it in a while. He was ok with using my older forces instead of his mid-80s classic Cold War collection. The PDRT had 12x T54s and 6x T34/85s, plus a company of Motor Rifles and two MiG sorties for 907 points. The Mantovian Defense Forces  had 8x Centurions, 4x Comets, 1x J29 sortie and a company of infantry plus GPMG and recoilless rifle teams. We played an Encounter Battle with the three hills and the cross roads being objectives to control.

By game end Scott had two, I had one (the crossroad), and one hill was contested. With only 2 Centurions and a Comet left to support my Fusiliers against Scott's five T54s it was time to withdraw and regroup.

Game 37.
